Powering Opportunities Beyond the Grid: Bringing Reliable Solar Energy to Bulacan’s Last-Mile Schools

Reliable electricity is something many schools take for granted. In geographically isolated communities, however, limited access to stable power can affect daily classroom activities and limit opportunities for both teachers and students.
To help address this challenge, AuroraPH, an initiative by Aboitiz Foundation in partnership with ING Hubs Philippines and the Department of Education (DepEd), continues to bring renewable energy solutions to last-mile schools across the Philippines, creating stronger foundations for education through sustainable energy.
As the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner, GoSolar Philippines was entrusted with designing and installing off-grid solar energy systems tailored to the specific requirements of each school. To further support connectivity and digital access, the project also included the installation of Starlink. GoSolar’s scope extended beyond installation to system testing, commissioning, and formal turnover, helping ensure that each school had the systems and connectivity needed to support its day-to-day operations.

Solar Solutions Designed for Each School
Through AuroraPH, solar energy systems were installed at Kawit Elementary School, Bato Elementary School, Basyo Elementary School, and Pinag-Anakan Integrated School in Bulacan.
Each system was designed to support essential school needs, including classrooms, lighting, electric fans, digital learning tools, and administrative operations. But the project was about more than providing electricity. It was about helping connect students and teachers to greater opportunities for learning, communication, and growth.
By supporting more reliable power and connectivity in these communities, the initiative helps create learning environments where students can stay connected to digital resources, teachers can focus on teaching, and families can have greater access to opportunities beyond their immediate communities.

Beyond Infrastructure: Powering Long-Term Possibilities
For last-mile communities, renewable energy means more than an infrastructure upgrade. By establishing a more sustainable energy foundation, schools can have greater capacity to adopt tools and programs that support education and community development over time.
The AuroraPH installations demonstrate how renewable energy can serve as an enabler of broader opportunities, supporting schools as they strengthen learning environments while communities build greater capacity around them.
The project also highlights what can be achieved through collaboration. By bringing together foundations, businesses, government institutions, and technical partners, AuroraPH shows how shared expertise and resources can create meaningful, long-term impact in underserved communities.

For GoSolar Philippines, this reflects a broader vision of how renewable energy can contribute to a brighter future, one where access to reliable power and connectivity can help communities learn, grow, and move forward. As an EPC partner, GoSolar sees solar not simply as a source of electricity, but as a foundation that can help make greater opportunities possible for the communities it serves.
